Case Study # 1 |
| Background: |
A leading global optical component manufacturer, located in the U.S. was building cable assemblies in-house. The assemblies needed a custom angled polish, and were terminated one at a time. The company were experiencing strong growth, and needed to ramp into higher production volumes. However, the quality requirements were very stringent, but not well-documented. |
| Solution: |
Fibrepulse design team sat and discussed the application with our customer. By first understanding their requirements, we were able to agree specification, and introduce robust process controls. We then designed custom-built ovens, high volume video-inspection equipment, customised polishing plates, which polished the assemblies 12 at a time. Using our vast manufacturing experience, we designed the process to get to volumes of 5,000 terminations per week. This resulted in massive savings for the customer, and a much more cost-competitive product. In the words of the customer “Fibrepulse is the best supplier I have ever worked with”. |

Case Study # 2 |
| Background: |
A leading component manufacturer had come up with a new product, but it needs a much smaller-than-normal ferrule to hold the fibre. |
| Solution: |
Fibrepulse sat with the customer’s design team to understand the application and came up with several proposals (using various materials for the ferrule). It was decided to go with stainless steel, so Fibrepulse designed and prototyped 10 pieces. Based on a successful alpha-build, Fibrepulse then designed and manufactured a customised stainless-steel ferrule, and a polishing plate to polish in volume. As soon as approval was received from the customer, Fibrepulse built 1,000 assemblies to verify the process. |

Case Study # 3 |
| Background: |
A leading DWDM carrier is completing an installation in Dresden, Germany. They need 4 pcs of SC-LC, each one 18m long. The time is 10.00 on Wednesday, the installation must be completed by 18.00 on Thursday. |
| Solution: |
The customer calls Fibrepulse, who immediately release a shop order and start to build the required assemblies. While the build is being carried out, the customer processes the Purchase Order and other related paperwork. Fibrepulse is already qualified by the customer, and the cables are built to meet the customer’s stringent quality requirements. The cables are shipped out on the Wednesday evening to the installer’s hotel room. Fibrepulse forward the tracking information to the customer, so that they can monitor the progress of the shipment. |
